Use these resources to learn more about the April 2001 riots and the federal agreement with the City of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Police Department.

American Civil Liberties Union, Ohio Chapter. The ACLU is a partner in the Collaborative Agreement. Its website includes all relevant court decisions, as well as reports from the Cincinnati Monitor.

CAN Commission. The Cincinnati CAN commission seeks to “help achieve greater equity, opportunity, and inclusion, for everyone by addressing disparities that impact people in need, particularly in the African-American community.”

Cincinnati Police Department. Official website of the Cincinnati Police. The site also includes current crime statistics detailed by police district and neighborhood.

COPS Office, U.S. Department of Justice. The COPS office at the U.S. Department of Justice is a clearinghouse of information on problem-oriented policing efforts nationwide. The office also provides grants to local law enforcement agencies to provide community-oriented policing service.

Matters of Race: Bridging the Divide in Greater Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Enquirer has a local news archive with several years worth of stories on the policies, unrest, and crime.

Spotlight On…The Cincinnati Police. The Library’s webpage about the Cincinnati Police and the progress made since the unrest of 2001. It includes: links to the Police Department’s website, crime statistics data, the collaborative agreement, and related cases.

United States District Court: Southern District of Ohio. The Court has heard several cases on the ongoing monitoring of the Cincinnati Police. Opinions of the court in several of these decisions have been published on the Court’s website. Search under opinions rendered by Judge Susan Dlott or by Judge Arthur Spiegel.
