Support Resources (Ebooks and Audiobooks) · Catalog Search Tips

Here are some strategies for searching for downloadable ebooks and audiobooks in the catalog.

Basic Search

Step 1: Enter your search term in the catalog homepage, select the “Search Only Downloadable Material” checkbox, then click on the “Search” button.

Catalog homepage

The resulting search results list will only include downloadable ebooks and audiobooks. How can you tell the difference between ebooks and audiobooks in the search results? Downloadable audiobooks have “Audio Book” in the catalog record but ebooks don't have any additional identifying information.

Note there are’t any “Place Hold” buttons in the catalog search results. That’s because downloading available copies and placing holds on unavailable copies takes place in the vendor’s website, not our catalog.

Step 2: To download the ebook, audiobook, etc., click on the blue “URL” link in the search results page.

Click on the blue URL link

Step 3: This will take you to the vendor’s website where you can download the title.

Download your book on the OEP or NetLibrary website

Advanced Search

If you’d like to construct a more specific search for material, click on the “Advanced Search” link on the catalog homepage. Enter your search terms, then select the “material type” drop down menu. You can limit your search to Downloadable Audiobook, Downloadable Book (ebook), etc.

More Search Tips

You can also limit your search by typing either “oneclick” or “overdrive” (the name of the companies that supply our ebooks and audiobooks), in the search box on the catalog homepage, select the “Search Only Downloadable Material” checkbox, then click on the “Search” button.

Limit your search by vendor

If you are a Mac user specifically looking for Mac-compatible MP3 files, type “mp3” in the search box on the catalog homepage, select the “Search Only Downloadable Material” checkbox, then click on the “Search” button.(This search also works for WMA files as well.)
