Deliaan A. Gettler was sworn in as a Trustee of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County at the October 14, 2003 meeting of the Library Board. She was appointed to the Board by the Hamilton County Commissioners for a seven-year term through September 30, 2010. Mrs. Gettler served as Board President in 2008, and currently serves as Chairman of the Development Committee, and is a member of the Legislative Affairs & Law Committee and Community & Public Relations Committee.

Mrs. Gettler is on the Board of Vulcan Corporation, a rubber, plastics, foam manufacturing firm based in Clarksville, Tennessee. She is also President of Trusthouse, Inc., a privately held investment company.

A graduate of the College of William and Mary with a BA in Political Science, Mrs. Gettler also did post graduate work at Georgetown University and American University. Since moving to Cincinnati in 1972, she has been involved in numerous civic activities. Mrs. Gettler is currently serving on the Board of the Museum Center at Union Terminal and is a lifetime member of Hadassah.

For many years Mrs. Gettler was a member of the Anderson Township Library Association, which raises money through used book sales to assist the Anderson and Mt. Washington branch libraries. She has served on the boards of The Buckeye Institute for Public Policy, as well as the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing, United Home Care (now the Visiting Nurses Association), and is past Chairman of the Board of the Ohio Council of Alcohol and Substance Abuse. She is a past president of both the Parents Organization for Anderson High School and the Umbrella Board for The Seven Hills School. Mrs. Gettler also served as a member of the Advisory Council for Indian Hill Schools. Her prior involvement in the arts includes serving as Chairman of the Women’s Committee for the Cincinnati Ballet, Business Manager of Conversation in the Arts, and Out of Town Chairman for the Cincinnati Opera.

Mrs. Gettler’s philanthropic activities include chairing the University of Cincinnati President’s Ball and the Charity Ball. She is a resident of Mt. Adams.
