Barbara W. Trauth was sworn in as a Trustee of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County at the December 13, 2011 meeting of the Library Board. She was appointed to a full seven-year term of office by the Hamilton County Commissioners. Mrs. Trauth chairs the Development Committee and also serves on the Community and Public Relations Committee, and the Library Services and Administration Committee.
A graduate of Edgecliff College, Xavier University, with a B.A. in Fine Art, Ms. Trauth is also an alumnae of the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She serves on the Edgecliff Alumni Board of Xavier University. Her career in the visual arts has included work in the field of commercial art as a designer for Gibson Cards and later for the Lazarus Art Department. In addition, Ms. Trauth served as a freelance fashion designer for eight years for both the Cincinnati Enquirer and also the Cincinnati Post before turning her focus to creating her own fine art.
Ms. Trauth’s artwork has been exhibited widely, including at the Cincinnati Art Museum, Xavier University, Carnegie Art Center, and the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Her work has also been on view at Summer Fair, the Cincinnati Flower Show and Horticulture Show, Ran Gallery, Over the Rhine Gallery, St. Ursula Academy, and Summit Showcase of the Arts, among others. She has received many commissions from area churches, corporate, and private collectors for sculptures, paintings, and children’s books.
Ms. Trauth is a resident of Hyde Park.
