Find out what’s going on this month—in the library, around town, or around the world.
The red, white and blue month is here!
Hey, Kids!
It’s hot outside, don’t you think?
But don’t be left out in the heat just to melt away!
Come in the library for a while and join us for some very COOL fun!
There’s still time to join ReadQuest 2008, the library’s summer reading program!
Through July 31 there are many prizes to win and programs to attend—just waiting for kids like you!
So get to your nearest library, and start Entertaining Your Brain right now!
Here’s an idea! How about a book and movie combination for starters?! That’s a good way to begin!
Read (or reread) Kit Kittredge: An American Girl (set in Depression era Cincinnati) by Valerie Tripp, and then check out this clip (and more) from the brand new movie!
Don’t forget that July is all about patriotic fun! Just for fun, set off some holiday fireworks above the Statue of Liberty and see how festive you can make her look!
Do you remember where Lady Liberty came from? If not, check out this new book, Lady Liberty: A Biography by Doreen Rappaport and illustrated by Matt Tavares.
Play the Original 13 Colonies Game! (It’s like “Hangman.”) Remember the names of all of the colonies? No? Learn them here! (They might be on a test later!)
If you’re going to camp this summer here’s a favorite camp story, The Viper, by Lisa Thiesing! This one will keep everybody on the edge of their seats! Guaranteed! Learn to tell this story, or read it out loud, to thrill and chill your friends!
Stay in touch with everybody this summer! It’s always good to keep your e mail addresses handy so you can send an e card. Here are some choices that are good for keeping up with your friends.
Keep cool in the summer heat, kids!
And be sure to visit your library soon! (Summer reading ends July 31st!)
