The popular genealogy database, Ancestry Library Edition, is now being managed by ProQuest instead of Gale. What does this change mean for our customers?

In addition to all the wonderful resources (U.S. census records, the Social Security Death Index, the Dictionary of National Biography, Native American records, and slave narratives) you’re accustomed to using for your genealogical research, some new resources are available, including:

  • New York Passenger Lists
  • Newspaper obituaries
  • American Genealogical-Biographical Index
  • Daughters of the American Revolution Lineage books
  • Expanded collection of United Kingdom and Irish sources
  • Selected genealogy books on methodology
  • Wider selection of court records
  • World War I Draft Registration Cards

Although the following resources are no longer offered by Ancestry Library Edition, they are available on paper and microfilm in the History and Genealogy Department.

  • Civil War Pension Indexes
  • Passenger and Immigration Lists Index
  • The Great Migration Indexes

For assistance using these or any of the extensive collection of family history resources available through the Library, contact the History and Genealogy Department at 513-369-6905. The reference librarians will be happy to guide you through your genealogical research. Please note, remote access to this database is still not available.

If you haven’t had an opportunity to investigate Ancestry Library Edition yet, we encourage you to stop in to one of our libraries and start exploring!
