What’s New · Rally Together in Support of Libraries

on Fountain Square April 20: Noon–1:00 p.m.

A library awareness rally, Libraries Make a Difference, will be held on Fountain Square on Wednesday, April 20 from noon to 1:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Friends of the Public Library, the rally will focus attention on the value libraries provide to the community and raise awareness of the devastating effect the proposed state budget reductions would have on library service. The event will include a live forum for customers to share comments on how the library has made a difference in their lives. Scheduled speakers will include members of community councils, social service agencies, schools, and individuals who will share their stories of how the library has changed their lives. Children’s Librarians have been asked to have area school children create colorful murals that will be displayed on the Square. There will also be music and information booths manned by volunteers ready to discuss concerns and answer questions.

Taped footage and photographs of this event will be shared with our legislators in Columbus on OLC Legislative Day April 27.
