In honor of the 30th anniversary of the release of Star Wars, GalaxyCon, a series of special events and programs will be taking place at the Library throughout May!

GalaxyCon Keynote Address: Matthew Stover

Star Wars series writer, Matthew Stover, is best-known for his acclaimed novelization of Revenge of the Sith, and his psychologically-charged and challenging Star Wars novels Traitor and Shatterpoint.

GalaxyCon Celebration at the Main Library

Generations of fans have embarked on intergalactic journeys through imaginative novels, action-packed television series, and blockbuster films. At the Main Library on Saturday, May 5, Sci Fi fans of all ages can come together to share fun activities with other Earthlings who have similar science fiction interests.

10:00 a.m. - Noon

Intergalactic Collectibles Roadshow. Bring your collectibles and have them evaluated by experts.

11:00 a.m. - Noon

Sci Fi Author Panel with writers Mike Resnick and Matthew Stover. Book signing to follow.

11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Learn to play Sci Fi board games and Star Wars role-playing games.

Noon - 1:00 p.m.

Learn to speak Klingon.

Noon - 1:00 p.m.

Where Worlds Collide Panel. Find out about the latest Sci Fi novels, movies, and series available at the Library.

Noon - 3:00 p.m.

Space crafts for kids.

1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Prop Building Workshop. Learn to make props for your own intergalactic costume.

1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Star Wars video gaming for teens and kids.

1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Jedi/Sith Training Academy for the youngest Sci Fi fans.

2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Costume Workshop. Learn simple techniques for making a costume of your own Sci Fi or anime character.

3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Costume Showcase. Meet your favorite costumed characters. Photo opportunities with Star Wars Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and Jawas, and comic book favorites Wolverine and Storm from the X-Men and Spiderman (bring your own camera).
