On Tuesday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m., author Gregory Maguire will be visiting the Main Library’s Reading Garden Lounge to discuss the creation of his Wicked series. The first book in the series, the bestselling A Lion Among Men, Maguire’s third New York Times bestseller in the Wicked series, features the beloved character from The Wizard of Oz, the Cowardly Lion.
Maguire has also written several children’s novels including The Hamlet Chronicles, a seven-book series that includes One Final Firecracker. Though he is best known as a fantasy writer, he has also written picture books, science fiction, and realistic and historic fiction.
Meet and Greet with Gregory Maguire
Gregory Maguire's 7:00 p.m. talk is free and open to the public, but for those who would like a more personal experience with the author, The Library Foundation is hosting a special fundraising reception for the author. It takes place from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21 in the Huenefeld Tower Room (on the Library’s 3rd floor). Tickets are $100 each and include an autographed book as well as preferred seating in the Library’s Atrium Reading Garden for the author's presentation. As an added treat during the reception, enjoy “wicked good food̶ from The Wicked ‘Wich, a new restaurant located at 425 Sycamore Street. Students from the School for Creative and Performing Arts will perform some numbers from “Wicked” the musical, too! Joseph J. Dehner & Noel Julnes-Dehner will underwrite the cost of the food. $75.00 of each ticket is tax deductible and will go to support the Library through the Foundation. Reservations are limited.
