Renowned Indian classical musician Mala Ramadorai will perform a free concert of Carnatic and Hindustani music at the Main Library on Tuesday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Reading Garden Lounge. The vocalist, who plays the tambura (long-necked plucked lute) while singing, will be accompanied by musicians on a variety of traditional Indian instruments, including the tabla and harmonium.
Ms. Ramadorai is currently on a tour of North America, conducting performances, lectures, and musical workshops in an effort to bring awareness of Indian culture and a greater appreciation for all the myriad forms of Indian music.
Ticketed Reception with Mala Ramadorai
Prior to the free concert, A Taste of India private meet and greet with Mala Ramadorai will be held from 5:30-6:45 p.m. in the Main Library’s Huenefeld Tower Room (3rd floor of the south building). Food will be provided by Akash India Restaurant at 24 E. Sixth Street. Underwritten in part by Frost Brown Todd LLC.
