Illustrated Sheet Music By African American Composers
|
The significant contribution of African American composers to our country’s musical heritage
is vividly demonstrated through illustrated sheet music published 1828-1944 and drawn from
the Library’s holdings as part of an exhibit, “My Castle on the Nile”. These compositions
with their striking hand-drawn and brightly colored covers, will be on view in the Main Library’s
Cincinnati Room January 7–February 28. Explore the stories and meanings behind the compositions
and their illustrations with a talk by the exhibit’s curator, Dr. Theresa Leininger-Miller,
on Saturday, January 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the Main Library.
