Dickens Exhibits: A Cincinnati Christmas Carol: Behind the Scenes of Cincinnati's Favorite Holiday Theatre Tradition
presented in partnership with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park in the Main Library's Atrium through
January 8. Plus, view the Library's rare early editions of Charles Dickens' books in the
Joseph S. Stern, Jr. Cincinnati Room through January 2.
Storybook Trees: Featuring storybook character ornaments hand-made by the Federated Garden Clubs
of Cincinnati and Vicinity on view in the Main Library's Reading Garden Lounge and Children's
Learning Center.

Every October, area teens are invited to submit creative, unique, or thought-provoking photographs to
the Library's Teen Photography Contest. This year's "Go Wild" theme called for teens to capture
images focused on flora and fauna around our community!

eReaders for the Holidays

Now's a great time—prices are dropping, lots of new devices have hit the market recently,
and the selection of downloadable books has exploded. However, the choices can be overwhelming.
To take some of the confusion out your shopping experience during the holidays, visit the
Library's website for answers to some of the questions customers have been asking our staff.

eBook Service Enhancements Coming Soon
|

On January 1, the Library will be changing the way it provides downloadable materials.
This will allow the Library to better respond to the needs of our cardholders. You will now be
able to check out eBooks for 21 days and there will be a brand new, more user friendly site for
borrowing and downloading material.

Library Journal has once again recognized your Library as a Star Library and it's all thanks to you!
This prestigious national recognition is awarded to libraries that are most heavily used.
Ratings are determined by the number of library visits, items borrowed, program attendance, and
computer use per person. Our scores are then compared to other large public libraries across the
country with Star Library status given to only the top 3%. We are the only Library in the Tri-state
to earn Star Library designation.

Then come to the Friends' Shop at the Main Library where you will find unique items that will
delight everyone on your gift list (and benefit the Library). Choose from exclusive holiday cards
with illustrated images from rare books in the Library's collection, literary-themed items,
unique gifts, jewelry, puzzles & educational games for all ages. You may also browse a large
selection of gently used books, CDs and DVDs.
Open for the holidays November 27-December 23
on Sundays 1:00–5:00 p.m.,
Mondays-Fridays 10:00 a.m.– 6:00 p.m.,
and Saturdays 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Profits from the shop are used to help fund the activities and programs sponsored by The Friends of the Public Library.
