The Main Library’s second annual Comic Con series of contests and programs runs from March 1 to May 10. In honor of the occasion, we've picked out some staff favorites from our Graphic Novels collection!

Come down to the Main Library on Tuesday, March 4 to see teams of architects, engineers, and construction professionals create sculptures entirely out of canned goods! Canstruction® is a global anti-hunger project. The gigantic sculptures will be on display to the public through Sunday, March 23.

The Library is partnering with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission to take part in the 2014 Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Parade on Monday, March 31! Look for our float and be sure to wave to our mascots Rufus the Reading Dog and Red Card! Then stop by the Main Library to see our exhibit featuring Reds memorabilia!

Celebrate International TableTop Day on Saturday, March 29! Come to the Main Library for three hours of board, card, and dice gaming. Play one of our numerous games or bring your own! We will also be hosting Star Trek Attack Wing casual play with prizes! Free drinks and snacks provided. All ages welcome.

YOUR RED CARD IS A PASSPORT TO THE EMERALD ISLE!
Our branches have plenty of chances for you to celebrate the Luck O' the Irish this month!  You can make crafts, hear Irish music, and see traditional Irish dancing during programs scheduled at many of our branches.  It all culminates in our annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration of Song and Dance on Monday, March 17, at 11:45 a.m. at the Main Library. Event is free and open to the public. Friends of the Library members can reserve preferred seating by emailing friendsofplch1@fuse.net or by calling 513-369-6035.
COUNTDOWN BEGINS TO 2014 CINCINNATI LIBRARY COMIC CON
Whether you’re into anime or zombies, Superman or Batman, Star Wars or Star Trek, fans won’t want to miss the Main Library’s second annual Comic Con series, which runs from March 1 to May 10. We have awesome contests and programs beginning this month, including our drawing contest, an exhibit featuring science fiction toys and memorabilia from the 1970s to the present, a class on digital comic book creation, and superhero movies and games in the TeenSpot at the Main Library!
ON THE SAME PAGE AUTHOR VISITS MAIN LIBRARY
Our community-wide reading project, On The Same Page, continues this month with exciting events surrounding the 2014 selection, "A Star For Mrs. Blake," by April Smith.  Fans of the book will get a chance to meet Smith at the Main Library on Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m.  Attend book discussions and special programs at the Corryville, Westwood, and Green Township branches as well as the Weston Art Gallery.  Be sure to join the discussion with other book lovers on Goodreads.
EXHIBIT SHOWCASES CINCINNATI PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENT ART
The Cincinnati Public Schools City Wide Art Exhibition is now on display in the Atrium of the Main Library.  It showcases artwork, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, and photographs from students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Each student received a certificate and a blue ribbon for having his or her work chosen to hang in the Library. The artwork will remain on display through April 20.

FRIENDS OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY USED BOOK SALE AT HARRISON BRANCH LIBRARY
Stock up for spring reading! Gently used hardback and paperbacks of all genres are available at the Friends of the Public Library Used Book Sale at the Harrsion Branch Library, 10398 New Haven Road. The sale runs from Thursday, March 6 through Saturday, March 8. The sales also offer CDs, DVDs, large-print books, audiobooks, and more at bargain prices. The Friends accept cash, check, MasterCard, or Visa.
