Homework Chat · Instructions for First Time Users

Step 1

If you’ve never used our Homework Chat service before, you’ll need to download the free “online classroom” from the Brainfuse Download Center. This application is compatible with both Windows and Mac computers. It will take a few minutes to download if you have a dial-up connection.

Step 2

Once you’ve downloaded the classroom, you’re ready to start work with a Homework Chat tutor. (Links to Homework Chat can be found in Kidspace, Teenspace, and the Ask a Librarian section of CincinnatiLibrary.org.) If you’re using Homework Chat from home, you’ll be asked to enter your library card number and PIN before connecting with the service.

Step 3

After you’ve connected to Homework Chat, choose whether you want Homework Help or Skills Building.

  • Homework Help gives you the opportunity to work with a live tutor or email your question to an instructor. To work with a live tutor in the online classroom, select your grade and subject from the menu and click “login.” If you’d like to get feedback on your writing from one of the instructors in the writing lab, you will need to create a user name and password and provide your email address.
  • Use the state-aligned Skills Building lessons to master key academic areas in one-to-one sessions with expert instructors. To get started, select your grade, subject, and the skill set you would like the tutor to cover.
