A native of New York City, Nikki Grimes is not only a writer and a poet, she is also a performing artist, fiber artist, and jewelry maker. She lives in Corona, California.
Ms. Grimes has written two other books for teens (Jazmin's Notebook and Dark Sons) and many books for kids (When Gorilla Goes Walking, Talkin' about Bessie: The Story of Aviator Elizabeth Coleman, Is it Far to Zanzibar?: Poems about Tanzania, etc.). In 2007, The Road to Paris was selected as a Coretta Scott King Author Honor Book.
