Can't find something in our collection? Or maybe you're looking for an item but all our copies are checked out? Through SearchOhio and OhioLINK you can now borrow material from the collections of over 140 Ohio public and academic libraries. These services are free, fast, and easy to use!

What's the difference between SearchOhio and OhioLINK?

SearchOhio is a consortium of Ohio public libraries. OhioLINK is a consortium of Ohio's college and university libraries and the State Library of Ohio. The OhioLINK catalog has an academic focus.

How does it work?

SearchOhio and OhioLINK are both free and can be used with a valid library card in good standing. If we don't have the title you're looking for, click the SearchOhio and OhioLINK buttons in the catalog search results. If another library owns the title, select the "Request Item" button and follow the prompts. Please refer to our SearchOhio and OhioLINK New User Guide for detailed step-by-step directions for using the service.

What type of material can be borrowed?

You can request books, audiobooks, CDs, and DVDs.

How long will it take to receive my request?

Items are usually available within 3-5 business days. Items requested on weekends will take 5-7 days. You will be notified via your preferred method (email, phone, or text message) when the item is ready to be picked up.

How long is the loan period?

SearchOhio and OhioLINK print items can be borrowed for 21 days. SearchOhio and OhioLINK DVDs can be borrowed for 7 days. SearchOhio audiobooks and music can be borrowed for 21 days. OhioLINK audiobooks and music can be borrowed for 7 days.

Can items be renewed?

SearchOhio titles can be renewed up to 3 times if no one is waiting for them. Print OhioLINK titles can be renewed up to 3 times if no one is waiting for them; however, OhioLINK media can't be renewed.

How do I return items that I've borrowed through SearchOhio or OhioLINK?

They can be returned to any of our branches or the Main Library. Our staff will take care of returning the items to the owning library system.

Can I accumulate overdue fines?

Yes. Overdue fines are 50¢ per day, with a maximum overdue fine of $25.00 per item. A replacement fee of $25.00 will be billed for any SearchOhio item that isn't returned within 30 days of the due date. A replacement fee of $125.00 will be billed for any OhioLINK item that isn't returned within 30 days of the due date.

What prevents a SearchOhio or OhioLINK request from going through?

  • If you have over $10.00 in fines on your library card or you have a temporary library card
  • If the title you are searching for is currently available at one of our branches
  • All copies in the SearchOhio or OhioLINK catalogs are checked out, or on hold for other customers

SearchOhio and OhioLINK are not available to a small number of customers with particular card types.
