Varshons
The Lemonheads’ album of covers, Varshons, is a weird and wonderful mix of country-rock, British psychedelic and Dutch electronica. Founder of the alternative rock band Evan Dando, lead guitar John Perry, on loan from The Only Ones, and the boys in the band play country-rock covers of Gram Parsons, Townes Van Zandt and the Wire, while Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” is rendered with an ingenious twist. Other guest artists appearing on lead and back up vocals include actress Liv Tyler singing Leonard Cohen’s “Hey That’s No Way to Say Goodbye”, and celebrity figure Kate Moss.
