Reichs' mystery series featuring forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan is the inspiration for the television show, Bones. In this 12th installment (after Devil Bones, 2008), Temperance wakes up to find herself in an underground tomb, bound and injured by an unknown assailant. She remembers being accused of botching an autopsy to cover up the murder of an elderly heiress, whose death may be linked to the serial killing of three other women.
