In Kellerman’s 18th novel to feature LAPD homicide detective Lt. Peter Decker and his wife, Rina (after The Mercedes Coffin, 2008), billionaire real estate developer Guy Kaffey, his wife, and four employees are killed during a shooting rampage at his ranch. Peter has plenty of suspects to probe (including Kaffey’s brother, Mace, and youngest son, Grant), while a chance jury duty encounter with a blind courtroom translator thrusts Rina into the dangerous investigation.
