I’m Going Away
The New York Times reviewed the Fiery Furnaces as a duo (real life brother and sister Eleanor and Matthew) who “make music that defies explication, categorization, and most standards of comprehension.” If a wildly eclectic mix of blues, folk, country, garage rock, and jazz, sounds intriguing, this seventh studio album from the Fiery Furnaces is sure to entice. With its storytelling lyrics and Eleanor’s vocals on a mix of upbeat and ballad-like melodies, I’m Going Away exudes a “prevailing air of sunny, Seventies piano pop.” (Elle Hunt)
