Peter Matthiessen: No Boundaries
American novelist, nonfiction writer and two-time National Book Award winner Peter Matthiessen is the subject of this hour-long, insightful documentary narrated by actress Glenn Close. Best known for his novels At Play in the Fields of the Lord (1965), made into a movie of the same name, and his most recent fiction trilogy Shadow Country: A New Rendering of the Watson Legend (2009), Matthiessen is also an environmental activist, travel writer, explorer and a Zen monk. Excerpts from his writings and interviews with those who know him best reveal the life experiences that led to Matthiessen’s spiritual awakening and many literary achievements.
