A Moment In Time
Kingston-born singer Beres Hammond grew up listening to the records of American musicians Sam Cook, Marvin Gaye, and Otis Redding and the sweet native music of his Jamaican homeland. These influences produced a vocal style suited to romantic lovers rock, a form of reggae based on New Orleans R&B and Philly soul that originated in South London. Hammond’s voice, “sweet, worn, torn, ragged, and smooth by turns” (AMG), fits perfectly with the joyous, uplifting love songs beginning with the standout opener “I Feel Good”.
