After graduating from high school, Jim Lauderdale headed for the Big Apple to make a name for himself in the music industry. His songwriting talents soon came to the attention of George Strait, Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, the Dixie Chicks, Kathy Mattea, and other hit-producing country stars. In 1991 Lauderdale produced his first studio album, and since then the new traditionalist, country singer has issued a new album almost every year, demonstrating his proven talent for Americana, bluegrass and high lonesome folk music.
