Chiro the bat fears his first solo flight. Scared of the darkness and unsure of his ability to “see” his mother says “Sing out into the world, and listen to the song the world sings back to you. Sing, and the world will answer. That is how you’ll see.” The lyrical text describes echolocation and Chiro’s growing confidence as he explores his world. Cincinnati artist Loren Long features acrylic and graphite illustrations that show the ink-black night and the ominous shapes of trees, geese, and ocean waves. Fly along with Chiro on his swooping nighttime journey! Ages 5-7
