George Herman “Babe” Ruth had a difficult life before he became the celebrated Yankees slugger. At age seven he was sent to Saint Mary’s Industrial School for Boys where he was inspired by the tough love of Brother Matthias who coached him on the fundamentals of baseball. Later in life Babe helped raise money to support Saint Mary’s school. Babe’s larger-than-life personality is captured in the lively text and mixed media illustrations from the creator of Henry Aaron’s Dream (2010) and There Goes Ted Williams (2012). Ages 6-8
