A Book About What Might Happen
Bruce Goldstone

The study of probability is presented in a playful, kid-friendly way with photos and illustrations. Starting with basic concepts such as Certain, Likely, Improbable, and Impossible he gives specific examples: “Will an elephant hatch from this egg? That’s impossible.” and “Will this butterfly land on one of the purple flowers? – That’s probable. Can you see why?” (Purple thistles outnumber two yellow flowers, allowing the reader to make the connection.) Many clear examples are given using gumball machines, coin tosses, cards, and dice with answers provided in the author’s note. An entertaining introduction to a key math concept from the author of Great Estimations (2006) and Greater Estimations (2008) Ages 6-10
