Letters from Skye
1912: Published poet Elspeth Dunn, who has never left her home on the Isle of Skye, receives a fan letter from American college student David Graham. The two strike up a correspondence and, despite the fact that Elspeth is married, fall in love. 1940: Elspeth’s daughter, Margaret, wants to marry a pilot, despite her mother’s warnings against seeking love during wartime. After her mother vanishes during an air raid, Margaret’s only clue to her whereabouts is a single love letter she left behind. Brockmole’s atmospheric debut novel captures the indelible ways that people fall in love.
