The Remarkable Story of Two Families Who Share the Tomlinson Name--One White, One Black
Chris Tomlinson

Journalist Chris Tomlinson grew up hearing stories about his white ancestors' 19th-century cotton plantation in Falls County, TX. LaDainian Tomlinson, former running back for the San Diego Chargers, spent his childhood playing on this very same land that his black ancestors had worked as slaves. Drawing on family documents, Chris researched the history of Tomlinson Hill and discovered how both families can trace their ancestry to the plantation. His documentary, airing next month on PBS in selected cities, won a Silver Heart Award at the 2013 Dallas International Film Festival.
