Calling Me Home
89-year-old Isabelle McAllister has a big favor to ask of her hairdresser Dorrie, an African-American single mom in her thirties. She wants Dorrie to drive her from her home in Arlington, Texas, to Cincinnati to attend a funeral. Tomorrow. Dorrie surprises herself by agreeing. Along the way, Dorrie will learn about Isabelle's past, a past that included a forbidden romance with the son of her family's African-American housekeeper. The journey will change both of their lives forever. Fans of Kathryn Stockett's The Help (2009) will devour this engaging debut.
