Murphy, author of Dumplin’ (2015) once again takes on the voice of a marginalized teen, tackling issues of economic, racial and sexual diversity with love, humor and hope. Ramona Leroux, is nicknamed “Blue” for her dyed blue hair and love of the water. She's also over six feet tall and one of only two out lesbians in her little town of Eulogy, Mississippi. Ramona lives with her dad and sister in a cramped trailer that’s been their home ever since Hurricane Katrina and she juggles multiple jobs to support her family. So the return of her childhood friend Freddie is a welcomed distraction. As they reconnect through their shared passion for swimming, her feelings for Freddie begin to shift, forcing Ramona to question everything she knows about herself.
