In Mathieu’s (Afterward, 2016) latest, Vivian Carter is the unlikely teen who starts a feminist revolution at her small-town Texas high school. Here football stars are king and their bad behavior is quickly dismissed by a blind-eyed administration. Although she tries to keep a low profile, when Viv witnesses a sexist incident in class, she decides that enough is enough. Inspired by her rebellious mom, she creates Moxie, a girl-power zine (magazine) that she distributes anonymously to her classmates. Although Viv is just blowing off steam, with each issue, more girls begin protesting everything from an unfair dress code to sexual harassment. As events begin to snowball, Viv realizes that she has started nothing short of a girl revolution!
