Volunteer

Want to help out this summer? Volunteers play an important role as partners in the Library’s mission of connecting people to the world of ideas and information. We have several summer volunteer opportunities for Teens and Adults.

  • Summer Reading Buddies - Participate in regularly scheduled Reading Buddies programs; read together with children to help them with literacy activities planned by the Children’s Librarian. (For volunteers ages 12-18.)
  • Summer Adventure Program Assistant - Assist with implementing Summer Adventure program, including stamping passports and distributing prizes; assist the Children’s Librarian or Teen Librarian with passive activity stations and other events, as needed; assist patrons with basic questions about Summer Adventure; assist staff with other basic tasks pertaining to Summer Adventure, as needed. (For volunteers ages 12-18.)
  • Summer Meals Assistant - Serve food to children up to age 18; supervise meal service to maintain order and meet reporting requirements; complete daily log of food received and served; assist with simple crafts or other library activities for participating children; promotion of library activities; assist with set up and take down of food service; clean-up of food pans, seating area, etc. (For volunteers ages 16 and up.)
