eBooks and eAudiobooks · New User’s Guide: Overdrive app

What You Get:

Free access to thousands of eBooks or eAudiobooks that can be downloaded to your smartphone or tablet.

What You Need:

  • Your library card
  • An iOS, Android, or Kindle tablet or smartphone
  • The Overdrive app

What you do:

Step 1: First time users will need to download the Overdrive app from iTunes, Googe Play, Amazon, or Overdrive's website and install it on your device.

Step 2: Open the Overdrive app and follow the prompts to create an Overdrive account and log in.

Step 3: Tap the menu icon in the upper left, then select "Public Library of Cincinnati..." You’re now ready to begin browsing for eBooks or eAudiobooks! Note the icon in the top right corner of the book cover. If all the copies are checked out to other customers, the icon will be greyed out, and you will need to place a hold on the book.

Step 4: Once you've found a book you'd like to read, tap the cover, then the "Borrow" button. Enter your library card number and PIN. Tap the "Download" drop-down menu, select your preferred format, then tap "confirm and add to app." If you select the Kindle format, you'll be taken to Amazon's website to complete the checkout process.

Step 5: To begin reading your downloaded title, tap the menu icon in the upper left. When the menu opens, tap “Bookshelf.” Tap on the downloaded title and begin reading!
