From Nov. 26 to Feb. 28, the Library will pilot a new Home Delivery service. This premium service is designed to meet the needs of customers on the go, bringing our collection right to your door!

Who is eligible for Home Delivery service?
Home Delivery is available to any resident of Hamilton County with unlimited Library card types that are in good standing.
Is there a charge for this service?
Yes. The customer will be charged a set fee of $3 per item shipped that will be charged to the user’s Library account. The customer then has the option of paying via credit/debit card online.
What items can I request from the Library for Home Delivery?
Most items in the Library’s collection can be sent to customers through Home Delivery. Exceptions are LPs, items requested through SearchOhio or OhioLink, Hot Author titles and reference materials. Some items, due to weight or size, cannot be sent through Home Delivery. In these cases, the customer will be notified by Library staff.
How do I request these items?
Books, audiobooks, music CDs, and DVDs, and magazines can be requested by using the Library’s online catalog. When requesting, simply choose “Home Delivery” as the pickup location.
Are there limits on the number of items I can check out at one time?
We will add no more than $24 worth of Home Delivery fees at a time (equivalent to eight items). The only items that would be limited are new DVDs, as customers cannot have any more than 10 new DVDs checked out at a time. Otherwise, no limits other than the limit due to Fines/Fees.
How will Library materials be delivered to my home?
Once ordered, materials will be mailed to the customer’s residence using the United States Postal Service.
Will the loan periods be the same as if I checked my materials out at a local branch?
Yes. All items will be eligible for a one-time automatic extension, as well as courtesy renewals if the item is not requested by another customer.
How do I return my checkouts?
All checkouts requested by the Home Delivery service should be returned by the due date to any branch of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County or the Main Library.
Are there fines associated with checkouts via Home Delivery?
All current fines for overdue materials (20 cents per day for adult materials and 5 cents per day for children and teen items) apply. Please note that when outstanding fines (including unpaid Home Delivery postage) accrue to the limit of $10, the card will be stopped.
Can I request a tracking number for my checkouts?
Currently, tracking numbers are not available for Home Delivery. Although, a receipt with current checkouts and corresponding due dates will be included with each package.
What happens if my requested items never arrive at the home address?
If the customer feels that the item was stolen, a police report should be filed immediately and the Library notified. If the USPS delivers items back to the Library marked “Return to Sender,” the customer’s card will be stopped and all remaining holds suspended. The Home Delivery process will continue as normal when the customer updates their information. It is important that up-to-date information is included with the customer’s Library account as this will be the mailing address on file for Home Delivery.
Can I cancel or freeze a hold requested for Home Delivery?
You can cancel or freeze a hold requested as long as the item has not been put in transit yet.
What if the item I received is damaged or missing parts or is the wrong item? Will I receive a replacement item at no charge?
If this occurs, please contact branch staff at the location closest to you.
Can I have a hold that is currently waiting for me on the hold shelf mailed to me if I have been unable to pick the item up?
No. During the pilot, we will only be able to mail items originally requested for Home Delivery. However, we will track the requests for mailing existing holds and consider impact should Home Delivery service become a regularly offered service.
I’m homebound due to an illness or disability. Am I eligible for Home Delivery?
Outreach Services offers a “Books by Mail” service which provides for books and other Library materials to be sent to individuals in Hamilton County who are confined to their homes and do not have access to the Main Library or a branch. This service is free of charge for customers meeting certain guidelines and no fines are associated. Please call (513) 369-6963 for additional information.
